Let the festive baking begin
Dusting off my recipes stuffed into a forgotten shelf, I decided to bake. After a three-year hiatus, I began the slow digging for my kitchenware. Some of them have rusted and are no longer agreeable for making delectable treats. I winced as I threw away my trusty spring-form pan. Arrgh. My Kenwood chef is buried in the depths of the kitchen cabinets and not wishing to incur the wrath of the kitchen mistress, I decided to whip everything by hand. I swear Popeye would be proud of me. It was hard work as I winded up the ingredients while watching TV. I was perspiring at the end of it. Gosh, now I know life without a Kenwood chef.
Somehow, I took shorter time than I had expected. The cake was ready in less than 4 hours after I started from scratch, just in time for dessert. Was in a mood to pamper myself, made icing to go along. Served the cake with the lychee and apple crumble ice-cream in the freezer. Gosh... the lychee went perfectly with the lemon cake! Oh well, I will have to experiment again. Using the loaf pan I had and not the round pan, I should have adjusted the temperature and time accordingly. But having not done this for 3 years, I forgot if I should adjust upwards or downwards. Nvm, this trial proved useful. The next lemon cake will be better. Let's see, what other recipes should I try...
