Mediocre is my middle name
It comes that time of the year again where one reflects on what one has done and will want to do for the next year. It happens when I benchmark myself against stellar counterparts and realise what a hapless hag I am. Yes, mediocre is my middle name
How much have I done in my whole 26 years? To better mankind? Nothing. Unless you count the senseless shopping as a helping hand to the retail industry. All I do is sputter along as the clock ticks. There was a ST article on how the countries are doing one year after the Tsunami in 2005. They interviewed one Singaporean survivor. He said the disaster woke him. He realised how precious life is and now wants to fill up his life as much as he can. My parents have always lamented that me and my brothers have it good. No hardship. (Nope, the office toiling is not counted) To a great extent, I agree. So what to I need, survive an crash to get my ass off the ground? Unfortunately, I'm agreeable being a mediocre. Afterall, my brains are not built for bigger things (except to store useless facts like friends' friends' friends' names). Should one aim for higher things? To stretch your potential as much as you can? Or content with accepting what you are given? I'm not sure. It does seem a little disgraceful to live by the clock, around my own world.
